After discussing setting up a facebook and myspace account for FHCC with Meghan this week, I have thought about whether this is a good or bad idea. I think that since they have a lot of volunteers it might be a good way for them to communicate with each other, and be updated all at once. As far as the privacy issues go, I think this would not be a good idea because patients might “stalk” the FHCC volunteers and this could be dangerous. I would also say that the majority of FHCC is not technologically advanced. Also, Meghan will have one more thing to up keep and maintain.
I know that there is some type of online scheduling that some fastfood places use, and I need to look into that for Meghan, but I think for the most part overall myspace and facebook are not a good idea for FHCC right now.
I am really looking forward to writing the article for FHCC, it will be great publicity and good experience.
